Fabulous as always, I have discovered the crispy duck dish made with watermelon! Great food, great service, great staff, keep up the good work guys and see you soon. They’re all committed to providing the best service and quality of care they can.
Overall, everyone in the group said they had a fantastic time, it was a great atmosphere in the restaurant too and we we’re all working out when we can go back again. Purpose built, our award-winning specialist residential with nursing care home offers specialist care and clinical support to people living with a dementia related illness. A popular feature on our site is the Entertainers’ Directory, which offers an advertising opportunity to entertainers who enjoy performing to older people in retirement housing, day centre and care home settings. EAC sees itself, and this website, as one source of ‘housing options’ information and advice for older people and their families. But there are many other organisations providing valuable services, both locally and nationally. Some care homes are registered to provide personal care only, for example help with washing, dressing and giving medication.

This was our first trip to Home, and it will not be our last. The staff were wonderful explaining the unique menu when we arrived as it was our first time, and throughout the meal they were very attentive, but not overbearing. The food was amazing, very different from your normal menu, a wide variety of dishes that are party of 7 chose nearly every option from. No long wait times, everything arrived promptly and together so nobody left waiting for their dish. The desserts are another level, never seen such intricate and fancy dishes anywhere else.

Passionate people who care
Place was lovely, table was brilliant, staff were really good and food was fantastic. One slight issue with my sons food but it was resolved really pleasantly and quickly. Booked a drinks only table for the DJ session at Home. Atmosphere excellent, cocktails amazing and DJ set topped off the whole thing perfectly. Visited Home Buckshaw on many occasions and as always had an amazing meal.
Just be aware that we do not provide housing or care services ourselves, so we cannot accept applications for housing and do not have any control over the services listed on our site. We frame our offer around ‘home’ because we understand its importance for everyone. But also because planning ahead may be needed to ensure that where you live now is ‘age proofed’, and that if you wish to consider moving, you have good information and advice to help you understand all your options. Care homes are regulated by independent Inspectorates in each country of the UK, subject to periodic inspections and awarded quality grades.
Entries are completely free, and we’re happy to work with you to ensure your service are presented in a way you’re happy with. Our site offers information and guidance that we hope will be of help to you. If you have a home to sell, you may be able to use the proceeds to pay the deposit on a new property and take out a ‘lifetime mortgage’ to cover the rest of the cost.

If you simply want to move to a more suitable non-retirement home, and need help or advice with this, our EAC Advice service is here to help you. A warm welcome on arrival, seating sorted attentive staff and a good selection of food inc veggie 🙂 Not rushed, overall a good place to visit. A majority of homes aim to cater for both, but some target only one or the other. Housing-with-care is a recent but natural evolution of retirement housing to provide an environment capable of enabling older people to maintain their independence even if they become physically or mentally frail. Deciding whether to move home in older age can be challenging. A move may provide a whole new lease of life, but a wrong choice can be difficult to undo.

On weekends you can explore the sights and attractions of one of the nearby towns, or catch the train to Manchester, Preston or Blackpool for a fun day out. There are several green spaces close to the area perfect for a peaceful walk, including Bluebell Woods, Cuerden Valley Park and Worden Park. The location has its very own railway station, Buckshaw Parkway, which provides frequent services to Manchester, Manchester Airport, Preston and Blackpool. Balshaw Lane station in Euxton is also minutes away, and additional stations can be found slightly further afield in Leyland and Chorley, providing convenient services to many of the above destinations and beyond.
Dementia care with a difference
On site domiciliary care packages are flexible and aim to meet your needs if required. As with hotels, the cost of living in a care home varies widely according to its location, the size of your room or suite, and the facilities on offer. There is often a substantial difference between fees charged to those who can afford the costs themselves and those who receive help from their Local Authority.

We are very proud to have received their first ever Gold Standard accreditation for dementia design. As for air travel, Buckshaw Village is within easy reach of both Manchester Airport and Liverpool John Lennon Airport, both less than an hour’s drive away. Our National Housing for Older People Awards celebrate examples of successful retirement housing and housing-with-care. Our Housing Directory aims to include all housing schemes /developments in the UK that are intended for older people. Our Quality of Information Mark flags good presentations. Those run by private operators more often focus on lifestyle, with help and care services discretely available to buy if or when required.
